VFD

Variable frequency drives (“VFD”s) can help even small organizations realize energy savings. Cost and size of VFDs have decreased; performance has improved. Other benefits of VFDs include less line disturbances, less maintenance, and longer motor life.

The term "Variable Speed" actually refers to the blower motor inside the furnace or air handler. It's an Electronically commutated motor, or (ECM). Unlike conventional fan motors, a variable speed blower motor runs at different speeds to precisely control the flow of heated or cooled air throughout your business.

Incorporating Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) into applications such as fans, pumps, and cooling towers can reduce energy use up to 50 percent at partial loads by matching motor speed to the changing load and system requirements.
